Gib Field is a Grade 2 listed barn and farmhouse in greenbelt land on the edge of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Our proposals split the property into two separate homes. We have created a dramatic open plan living space in the former barn building and remodelled the entrance approach and circulation inside the former farmhouse to making a new guest wing and link extension that maximises extensive views across Wharfedale from within the property.
Sensitive landscaping was integral to this scheme, working within constraints of existing mature trees and the public footpath to the adjacent golf course to design new private gardens and communal areas appropriate to the historic character of the seventeenth century farmhouse and its unusual eighteenth century barn. The completed project received a Conservation Award from Ilkley Civic Society in 2022.
