driffield terrace

Robert was the lead designer and project architect for the basement conversion of a substantial grade II listed five storey town house in central York. The existing basement storerooms were converted to form a new kitchen and family dining area leading onto a new rear sunken courtyard garden. A new family entertainment room and ancillary spaces were also created.

The original house was found to have been built over a third century Roman burial ground and the works included a detailed archaeological excavation that formed the basis of a BBC Timewatch television programme.
