nab wood retrofit

We secured planning permission for the retrofit of a 1970s bespoke private house in the Nab Wood area of Shipley, West Yorkshire. The original house comprised a four bedroomed property and an attached one bed annexe.

Our proposals maintained the four bedrooms and incorporated various internal alterations and an extensive modernisation to thermally enhance and improve the external envelope of the property. The master bedroom was reconfigured to create a larger suite and the kitchen and dining area enlarged. The building was re-clad and reroofed taking care to maintain the horizontal and low level character of this period house.

Reinforcing connections to the extensive gardens and introducing new green spaces to replace existing flat roofed areas was integral to the design strategy. These create a visual continuation of the front garden from the street due to the form of the original property and the stepped down levels across the plot.
